Christmas Shopping with a purpose and a give away!

Check out the bottom of this post for the Giveaway!
Linny over at a place called simplicity and Stacy at my cupoverfloweth had a great idea about giving with a purpose.  They have set up a page that is full of families selling items to raise money to adopt.  So this is our family's fundraising page. I plan to use her site for most of my Christmas shopping. So here is a little about our precious treasure that we plan to add to our family.  My husband and I have hearts for the orphans of this world.  After we had our first two children we knew that if our family would ever grow it would be through adoption.  There are so many children in the world that need a family and we want to make one less. We first started our journey trying to foster to adopt an older child that had less of a chance at being adopted.  This ended in tragedy which you can read about here.  All along we were interested only in older children because we felt that is where the need was so when we realized that it wasn't safe to take in an older child when we had little ones in the home we started researching.  We quickly realized that there is a great need for homes for African American and Biracial babies to be adopted.  We prayed and felt at peace about this decision.  We are soooo excited and we can't wait to meet our newest family member.  I definitely feel paper pregnant.  There is a very short wait time for these babies so the sooner we raise the ransom the sooner we can love on our treasure.

To the right you can see the items I currently have for sale.  I am selling T-shirts and jewelry.  The t-shirts all say love one another on the front and have Isaiah 1:17 written on the back.   I just got the shirts in and I will post better pictures of people wearing them next week.  If you would like better pictures of any of the items just let me know.  When you order a shirt just message me what size you want in the shipping notes.  I can also get these shirts in different colors so just message me if you have any special requests. The jewelry I am selling is beautiful, handmade one of a kind magazine bead necklaces made by the women of Uganda.  By buying these items, you can help them feed their families three meals a day. You help send their children to school. You help empower these women. Below I have some up close pictures of the necklaces.  I will be getting more necklaces in next week and some t-shirts so keep checking back for new items.

hi! the website is ... www.catholiccharitiesnwfl.org

the program coordinator is Kellea Sims and her email is simsk@cc.ptdiocese.org. She has been great. Sometimes it takes her a couple of days to email you back ... but you can call the agency at 850-436-6411 her extension is 1. They are located in Pensacola, Fl but I know that they do out of state adoptions if you don't live in Fl.

Ask her to email you a fee schedule ... it has everything broken down for you. It is the ONLY agency that we have found that is 1. under $20,000 (it's only $13,600 I believe) and 2. that breaks it down for you so that you don't have to pay everything up front. Good luck!

ummm well our homestudy update was just completed in August and we still had some additional paperwork to turn in ... I think we really only waited a month for us to get matched after all the paperwork stuff was finalized. (that's what takes the longest in my opinion ... stupid paper work lol) I don't think that there are that many adopted families that are willing to take an AA baby ... our agency told us that we would prob. get matched sooner bc we were willing to take any race. I think the more open you are the quicker things will go. Hope this helps ... feel free to email me at rmber2smile@yahoo.com I loved to help you with any other questions that you may have.:0)

I came across your blog as I was doing my Christmas shopping. We would love to help you raise money for your adoption. I am trying to let as many adoptive families know that our website will donate 30% of our sales that are made by people you refer by them simply giving your name when they make a purchase. our store is www.makingfootrpints.org. We started this to raise money to serve the poor, orphans, and widows on our foreign missions. And we have a huge passion for the orphans and just completed our 2nd adoption. I know, all too well, about fundraising to the last dime. If you are interested please email me at footprintsincostarica@gmail.com. And please visit my personal blog at www.myraboins.blogspot.com. Blessings,
Kalina

Hi, I've done a couple posts over the last two weeks featuring some fundraising families. I have another post going up Wednesday with one more spot for a family (as of right now) and plan to do another post next week to feature another 3-4 families. Do you want to write something up so that I can feature you guys there? Check out the other posts to see what other families wrote. And, I would need a family picture too.

Let me know if you are interested.
Blessings!

I would love to learn about how you got started with your fundraising and what sources you are using. I will also be featuring a permanent page on my blog to have current adoption fundraising blogs and sites.
We are adoptive parents to two and looking into adopting again as well. Would love to know more about your process!
